Oven Repair

Wall ovens and range ovens that run hot, run cold, or stop holding a set point. Bake and broil elements, thermostats and probes, convection motors, door hinges and springs, latches and control boards.

Open oven cavity in dark brown cabinetry, the round convection cover and fan housing visible on the back wall

01 How it gets described

The complaint, as it arrives

  1. Oven overshooting the set temperature by a wide margin
  2. Bake element glowing at one end only
  3. A sagging hinge letting heat escape past the seal
  4. Control panel locking out partway through preheat

02 On the visit

What gets measured

  • Cavity temperature against the set point through a full preheat and a hold
  • Sensor resistance cold and hot, which is what separates a sensor from a board
  • Bake and broil element continuity and their visible condition
  • Door hinge tension, gasket compression and the glass pack alignment

03 What it costs

What moves the number

Flat $95 service call covering the visit and full diagnosis, credited against the repair once you approve it.

Typical ranges for the work itself, parts and labour together
Igniter or burner assembly $290–$650
Oven thermostat or heating element $230–$810
Control board or touch panel $380–$940
Dishwasher pump or control $310–$1,240
Refrigeration fan or defrost system $290–$690
Compressor or sealed-system repair $1,090–$2,630

A band is not a quote. Where a job falls inside one depends on the component, on whether the appliance has to be drawn out to reach it, and on how the part is supplied for that model. The number you approve is given before anything is dismantled. A comparable new unit is $6,640–$11,790 for the appliance alone, before delivery, installation or gas work.

Condominium near Lechmere with a service elevator to book, and he arranged that himself. The latch had stuck in the clean position with the cavity locked out. Latch motor replaced and the door opened normally.

The bake element glowed at one end only and everything came out uneven. Replacement fitted inside the hour. He also spotted a scorched terminal block behind the cavity and changed that rather than leave it.

The control panel kept locking out partway through preheat. He found the cooling fan stalled and the board overheating because of it. Fan replaced, board reseated, and it has run through several roasts since.
